Retro Commissioning - $162,000 Budget

DISD asked EMA to evaluate DeGolyer Elementary School to see if the 50-year old school was operating according to the owner’s current requirements. The project began with testing the HVAC systems and controls. A total of 69 deficiencies were discovered with 13 recommendations for corrective action. Since the completion of the project, comfort complaints have been virtually eliminated and the learning environment has improved without the extra noise of the HVAC equipment. The new control system provides the consistency and reliability to operate efficiently. Through energy savings the project is projected to save over $25,000 annually for a simple payback of less than 6.5 years.
